Terms of Use

Last updated: 1 November 2026

These terms cover two things: use of this website, and use of the MyAssistant software it describes. They are written in plain language on purpose. If anything here conflicts with the license that accompanies a specific release of the software, the license wins for the software itself.

1. The software is yours to use

MyAssistant is free software distributed under an open-source license (AGPL-3.0). You may run it, study it, change it, and share copies under the terms of that license. The license text distributed with the software is the authoritative document.

2. Your stuff is yours; our stuff is ours

Your notes, voice, code, and everything else your assistant touches remain yours — they never leave hardware you control, so there is nothing for us to claim. The MyAssistant name, this website’s design, and its original text and graphics belong to us. Don’t present the website or the brand as your own; sharing links to it is encouraged.

3. You run it, you drive it

Because MyAssistant is self-hosted, you are responsible for how it is run on your systems: the machine it lives on, the models and services you connect to it, the accounts and API keys you supply, and anything you or your assistant does with the access you grant. You agree to use the software lawfully and to respect third parties — including approving its actions through the permission prompts it gives you, rather than switching them off and being surprised later.

4. Third-party services

The software can connect to third-party engines and services (model providers, code-execution engines, and similar). Those services have their own terms and pricing; your relationship with them is directly between you and them. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.

5. No warranty — genuinely

The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It is software that reads files, runs commands, and talks out loud, on your machines. Keep backups. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for damages arising from use or inability to use the software or this website.

6. The website

We keep this website available as-is and may change or remove it at any time. Use it lawfully: no attempting to disrupt it, no scraping it at abusive rates, no impersonation.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the “last updated” date above will change. Continued use of the website after an update means the updated terms apply to the website. The license for software you already have does not change under our control.
